A while ago I went to Paris and happened to be fortunate to drop by the Serge Lutens Palais Royal and get some lipstick samples to review for you.
This will be divided in 2 parts: Lipsticks from 1 to 6 and then 1 to 12.
I hope you find this useful.
Swatches: From left to right (Thanks for my camera to pick every color WAY more saturated than it is. I apologize)
1 Mise a Mort : A more brownishy and slightly more cool reddish toned (almost magenta-ish) than Mac Kanga rouge
2 Roman Rouge : A deeper and more purple version of Mac Girl about town
3 Pourpre Maure: A much more elegant and wearable version (and darker) than Mac Heroine crossed with Mac Violetta. It is also more reddish.
4 Or Frele: Sheered and more balm-ish version of Mac Tanarama. Imagine Tanarama in a lip balm version.
5 Rose des Glaces: A mix of Helena Rubinstein Wanted Stellars 370 Cosmic Praline and MAC Pretty please, but a balm-ish version.
6 Mauve de Swann: A much sheerer version of Lancome Color design Trend Mauve cream with a dash of Mac High tea.
1 Mise a Mort is a very unique red because it is cool toned yet has somewhat of a brownish undercast to it. It is not very glossy, more of a satin or cream finish and definitely very easy to convert it to a matte shade, as do all the shades from 1 to 3. Somehow it translates a bit more neon-ish on my lips on the camera.
2 Roman Rouge, once worn, feels like it is a mix of shade 1 and 3.
3 Pourpre Mauve is a shade that stands out for me. It is almost like a vintage purple.
4 to 6 are very sheer and very ‘lip balm’ texture. The most opaque of those 3 is number 6, which is somewhat of a dirty-muted-taupe-mauve.
4 and 5 would be somewhat of a splurge, because I don’t feel they are anything special considering the price. They are a luxurious tinted lipbalm.
Overall, if you want something perhaps worth your money and you want something opaque, check shades 1 to 3. From 4 to 6, 6 is the only one that I would deem worth it.
